If we use the Word of God as a window, we only see the waywardness of others; but when used as a mirror, our own need for grace is evident, causing us to then see others with the same grace we depend on (Jas. 1:23-25).

When we strive for perfection in ourselves, and of ourselves, all we find is our own shortcomings amplified in others for which our answer is criticism. Remember the plank is influencing our sight as we announce the speck in the eye of the other.
